The
four coastal talukas viz. Salcete, Bardez, Tiswadi and Mormugao,
also the most developed in terms of economic growth, infrastructure
and Tourism, are the most populous. They together account
for nearly 64% of the state population with 7.45 lakhs out
of 11.69 lakhs. Among 11 Talukas of Goa, Salcete Taluka
is the most populated (219,897), while Canacona Taluka is
the least populated (40,716).
