Administrative Profile

Goa along with Daman & Diu, which was liberated by Indian army on 19th December 1961, from 451 years of Portuguese rule, remained as a Union Territory until 1987. On 30th May 1987, Goa became the 25th State of the Indian Union. The State is divided into two districts namely North Goa and South Goa with head quarters at Panaji and Margao, respectively. These districts have been further divided into 11 talukas. Some of the basic information of these Talukas is given below.
